Daycare Openings Available for Summer and Fall

United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania still has some openings available for the summer and fall at their three daycare centers in Scranton.  UNC’s summer daycare program is unique because it includes a five week day camp.  Held at Camp St. Andrew, a beautiful rural setting 30 minutes from the city of Scranton, the day camp is for children 5 through 12 years old. Programs for children aged 3 and 4 are held at the daycare centers during the summer while camp is going on for the older children.

United Neighborhood Centers’ Childcare Programs provide before and after school care, as well as pre-school services, to the children of working parents. These programs care for the child’s social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs.

The preschool programs follow an instructional early childhood curriculum. Core competencies included in the curriculum include math, science, reading readiness, social studies, writing and computers.  Newly instituted are Nutrition–Healthy Choices and Cooking Program and Healthy Futures Program. The school-age program includes homework supervision, arts and crafts, science and nature, music, sports activities and field trips.

Hours of operation for the centers are 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, 52 weeks a year. Care is available for school in-services, most holidays, early dismissals, delayed openings and summer care.  Transportation to and from school is provided for school-age children within the Scranton, Dunmore and Riverside School Districts.

State licensed and inspected, United Neighborhood Centers daycare is an equal opportunity childcare program that does not discriminate in child or staff practices according to race, color, religious creed, handicap, national origin, ancestry, age or sex.

UNC is actively involved in the Keystone Stars Child Care Quality Initiative.
