2013 Thanksgiving program sees large increase of families in need

DSC_4023United Neighborhood Centers’ 34th Annual Thanksgiving Feed-a-Friend Food Basket Program served 1700 families this year, distributing a holiday meal full of all the trimmings for those most in need this past holiday. About 200 volunteers came together at St. John Neumann Church in Scranton on November 26 and helped to unpack, stuff, hand out and, in some cases, even deliver food baskets to registered families throughout Lackawanna County. Volunteers came from such organizations as Bank of America, Old Forge High School, Penn Foster, Dunmore High School, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders and many, many more. UNC would like to thank everyone who helped make this day possible and all those who donated.
