UNC’s South Side Farmers Market Celebrates CSA Day

UNC’s South Side Farmers Market will host 2017 CSA Day this Saturday, Feb 25th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 509 Cedar Avenue in Scranton.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a direct farm-to-customer business model.  Members pay for a season’s worth of produce or meats (a membership) in advance and receive a “share” of fresh produce, meat, eggs, or flowers through the harvesting season. This is great for the farmers because they get the revenue when they most need it to get ready for the growing season.

Fullers Overlook Farm offers weekly CSA shares of produce, eggs, pasture raised meat, and flowers.  Participants who sign up at UNC’s South Side Farmers Market will be entered into a contest to win a $20 gift card for the Farm.  No Bull Ranch offers monthly and weekly CSA shares of beef and Berkshire pork and will offer a discounted price on CSA signup at CSA Day this Saturday.  Both farms offer CSA pickups at UNC’s South Side Farmers Market on Saturdays.
