Advocacy Programs
UNC's Economic Justice Program is funded through a partnership with the Community Reinvestment Coalition in Washington D.C. This is one of three pilot programs in the country, developed to bridge the gap between the low-income community and mainstream sources of credit, capital and banking services. The three pilot programs will provide a blueprint for a national Economic Justice Campaign. UNC’s efforts will collect and disseminate data on current financial practices in the community and their impact on the overall economic well being of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

UNC's Community Organizing Program is funded by a grant from the Willary Foundation, and will allow us to provide the residents of Skyview Park with the knowledge and tools to improve the quality of life for themselves and future residents of that development. By introducing a “Listening Project Model,” UNC will identify and develop new community-based participation and leadership; clarify issues and community needs; and build capacity for a self-sufficient resident council. UNC firmly believes any lasting changes at Skyview Park must come from the residents themselves.
