Sharon Brittingham

Rochester, NY and now lives in Scranton.
Education:
BA in psychology from Wilkes University. She has also completed several courses
toward obtaining a master’s degree in professional studies at Marywood
University.
Favorite Food: Thai food

Favorite Holiday: Mother’s Day. Sharon explained, “My
boys get to tell me how much they love me.”
Hobbies: Reading, playing the piano, photography, antiquing, singing (Sharon is a vocal coach), and healing (she owns “Hawks Nest Healing Space – polarity therapy)

Greatest Lesson Learned: Sharon said, “The importance of being here, now.”
All about her job: In 2007, Sharon was a board member, but later she moved away. When she moved back from Maine, she was checking in to see if there were any openings at UNC because she was impressed with the type of work here. The Director of Community Youth position was opened, so she applied. She began her work at UNC in as the Director of Community Youth Programs. Sharon oversees the programs, including the two evening programs, Leaders in Training, and the ropes course at Project Hope Summer Camp.
Likes About Her Job: Sharon likes working right in the community. While growing up, youth centers were an integral part of her life, so she enjoys finding ways to encourage youth to visit the centers.
Best Friend: Dorothea Penn. She lives in Cape May, NJ and they have been friends for over 25 years. Dorthia is like a sister to Sharon.
