Eviction Prevention Program

United Neighborhood Centers Eviction Prevention Program serves the people of the city of Scranton. It provides funding for individuals and families struggling to preserve their homes from eviction. The program is able to assist with up to three months back rent and is meant as a one time, temporary fix to prevent homelessness. Eviction Prevention is set up to help those who have struggled a financial hardship, but are now back on track.

The grant that is instrumental in this project is known as Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program, or HPRP, funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). A United Neighborhood Centers’ Housing Counselor assesses each client’s situation on an individual basis. The counselor sets appointments to determine whether or not the client (s) qualifies within the HUD specific guidelines.
