I am committed to providing transparency to all stakeholders. I recently have been endorsed by the Scranton Political Action Committee (PAC) which requires me to pledge to be:

• Be civil and professional
• Promote an ethics policy for directors
• Institute a stringent anti- nepotism policy

What is your experience managing budgets or programs?
Before becoming a teacher I was employed by a Large Contract foodservice company Compass Group USA/ Flik International. My responsibilities included preparing budgets, preparing weekly profit and loss statements, and integration various programs and best practices.

Describe your community leadership.

• Friends of the Poor volunteer for holiday dinners
• Yearly homemade dog treats for the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter (student project)
• Chairman of The McAndrew family “Cookies for Kids’ Cancer Bake Sale” for pediatric cancer research.
• Member of “The Black Sheep of West Scranton (Organization that raises money for sick children and their families.)

What is the biggest issue facing Scranton schools and how would you address it?
The biggest issue facing the Scranton School District is the deficit. We need to adopt a standard bidding policy and schedule. We need to maintain a hiring freeze and scrutinize all hires.We also need to advocate for unfunded and underfunded mandate relief. We have to reach out to our legislators to fight for a fair funding formula that no longer burden taxpayers.
