Welcome

Welcome to United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania (UNC). This site will give you a small glimpse into the world of UNC. These pages tell the story of all the programs and services we offer and a little about our rich history, which dates back to 1923. What it does not tell are the individual stories of the tens of thousands of residents of Northeastern Pennsylvania who have turned to us for assistance through every economic downturn from the Great Depression right through the current recession. We have been here through all these years to meet the basic needs of food, clothing and shelter for families, children and senior citizens.  At the same time, we have developed programs that offer hope and opportunity through services that assist households reach self-sufficiency and our youth grow to be contributing members of the community. The keys to our success have been a staff that is dedicated to the work of helping those most in need, partnerships with other governmental and social service agencies and a community that has been generous with their time, talent and treasure to enrich our work year in and year out. If, after browsing this site, you would like to get involved, I encourage you to complete and submit our volunteer form or make a donation which will be used to support our programs most in need. It is only through strong community support that we have been able to be a resource for those most in need all these years.
