Winter Market increases access to fresh foods

farmers logo After five successful seasons of the South Scranton Farmer’s Market, the vendors expressed an interest in continuing the Market in the winter. With the housing construction on Cedar Avenue being completed this fall and community space available, it was the perfect time to test a Winter Market in the neighborhood. The Market opened at 509 Cedar Ave. on the first of November with seven vendors and has grown exponentially since then. Due to the success of the Winter Market, it will continue through May 2 when it moves back to the Scranton Iron Furances for the summer on June 13. Some of the offerings include winter squashes, greens, eggs, poultry, beef, pork, bread, cookies, pies, spices, kombucha and many other items. UNC is always looking for new vendors and if you are interested please call 570.346.6203 ext .16.
