UNC & The Arc-NEPA Collaborating on MLK Day

UNC’s Leaders in Training (LIT) Program and The Arc of Northeastern Pennsylvania Day Program participants will work together on a special community service project in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Day.

UNC’s LIT group, which is made up of local teenage students, will distribute and collect donation bags for nonperishable food to homes in the Scranton area.  The bags will be distributed on January 9 and collected on January 16, MLK Day.  The LIT students and Arc participants will then work together to sort and organize the donations, which will be distributed to local families in need through UNC’s Angel’s Attic Food Bank.

This project was designed as part of the MLK Day of Service, which encourages groups throughout the United States to commemorate MLK Day by volunteering in their communities.  The collaboration is supported by a grant from The Arc-US through the Corporation for National and Community Service.
