Child Care Teacher

United Neighborhood Centers of NEPA (UNC) is one of the largest, and longest operating, nonprofit organizations in the region. We are searching for Child Care Teachers in our Child Care facilities. The Child Care Teacher / Group Supervisor will coordinate the educational, social, emotional, and physical development of the children in the program.

Full and Part-time opportunities available (20, 30, or 40 hours per week available)

Education: Bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field preferred but would also consider someone with experience working with children in a child care facility.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and insure the safety and well-being of the children at all times, being alert for the needs and/or problems of the children as individuals and as a group.
  • Plan age-appropriate curriculum in detail for assigned class that helps each child develop to the fullest in each area of development.
  • Implement the daily program with the help of an assistant or aide if applicable.
  • Maintain an environment that helps each child to have a positive experience throughout the day.
  • Treat all children with dignity and respect and allow for individual differences. Provide an atmosphere of acceptance and caring for each child and show as much individual attention as possible to each child.
  • Maintain a friendly, professional relationship with all families and staff.
  • Keep classroom, storage rooms, and bathroom clean, neat, and orderly. All staff share housekeeping responsibilities.
  • Conduct individual conferences with parents of each child as needed.
