Senior Community Center Program Coordinator

This position is located in Clarks Summit, PA.

Hours: Full-time position working 40 hours per week Monday through Friday.

Position Summary: The primary role of this position is to develop creative programs, activities, and events for seniors in the community as well as to advocate for the holistic needs consumers.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops an array of creative programs pertaining to health and wellness, socialization, entertainment, arts, fitness, and education to be offered at Senior Community Centers (SCC).
  • Oversees and ensures successful implementation of daily programming and special events by having a daily on-site presence at assigned SCC.
  • Promotes programs and assists in the development and distribution of marketing materials.
  • Networks with potential partners, vendors, volunteers and agencies to provide ongoing program offerings.
  • Engages and builds rapport with senior participants by being a consistent presence on-site at the assigned SCC.
  • Provides support and resource navigation to consumers, as needed. This may include referrals to the Community Health Navigator, other UNC departments, or other social service agencies.
  • Provides telephonic and in-person outreach for “wellness checks,” as needed.
  • Implements strategies and innovation that promote program growth and expansion and reach new, diverse populations.
  • Completes thorough and accurate documentation in compliance with HIPAA Privacy and Security guidelines and in accordance with department/program specific procedures, as instructed by Department Director.
  • Assists in report writing, data collection, and preparation needed for grants, as requested by Department Director.
  • Participates in appropriate training to grow professional skillset and expertise as it relates to serving UNC consumers.
  • Represents UNC at community events and meetings as needed.
  • Performs all other duties deemed necessary by Department Director or President & CEO.

The Senior Community Center Program Coordinator must also:

  • Work on-site in an office environment with moderate noise (i.e. social programming in the SCC, phones, printers, light traffic).
  • Be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Be able to access and navigate the assigned SCC location’s facilities and help others do so when needed.
  • Be prepared to regularly stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard while performing the duties of this job.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements to complete computer work.

Education/Experience/Licensure

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Experience working with older adults (preferred).
