The United Neighborhood Community Development Corporation is a branch of UNC that develops affordable housing for residents of Northeastern Pennsylvania. After demonstrating more than 80 years of experience working with the neediest populations in the community, United Neighborhood Centers saw a distinct need for affordable housing options and created UNCDC to meet this need. Since its founding in 2007, UNCDC has successfully completed rehabilitation of the Harriet Beecher Stowe Apartments, an 18-unit building that restored and repurposed a 100-year old former elementary school. In addition, UNC/UNCDC received designation through the State of Pennsylvania as an Elm Street Community in South Scranton. This designation will lead the revitalization efforts in Southside, which are currently underway.
