U.S. Senator Robert Casey, Jr.  Visited UNC Senior Center

Senator Robert Casey, Jr. addressed United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania Mid Valley Senior Center community on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, about the Inflation Reduction Act: Lowering RX Costs. The Inflation Reduction Act has lowered health care and prescription drug costs for Pennsylvania families.  The act includes reducing health care premiums, capping insulin at $35 per month, making approved vaccines free, and decreasing out-of-pocket costs. The Senator was joined by speakers Lisa Durkin, UNC President and CEO; Barbra Richel, Lake Ariel resident; and Michael Berman, Executive Director of Pennsylvania for Protect Our Care.

Senator Casey is a member of the United States Senate Committee on Aging. UNC, along with a partnership with Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging and the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, offers diverse programs and services to older adults and their families throughout its five centers throughout Lackawanna County.
