A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Community

The numbers are in, the efforts have been reviewed, and the impact is clearer than ever. For 41 years, United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania (UNC) has proudly served as the designated WNEP Feed-A-Friend agency since the program began in 1984, working alongside our community to support neighbors during the holiday season.

This year, 1,961 families received grocery store gift cards and holiday meal food, allowing each household to celebrate in ways that honor their traditions and culture. In addition, UNC staff and volunteers collected more than 20,000 pounds of food from 77 official collection sites across Lackawanna County—an extraordinary demonstration of generosity and community spirit.

As part of the Feed-A-Friend program, every family met with a UNC caseworker, creating opportunities to connect them with additional wrap-around services when needed. Feed-A-Friend is about more than food; it is about dignity, stability, and hope for families facing difficult times.

To everyone who donated, volunteered, hosted a collection site, shared information, lifted boxes, or supported the campaign in any way, thank you. Your compassion and commitment truly make a difference.
