Project Hope Stakeholders Experience Camp UNC

On a beautiful summer day, July 15, 2026, several Project Hope funders and community stakeholders visited Camp UNC for a special behind-the-scenes tour, giving them an inside look at the life-changing impact of their support and the opportunity to experience camp through the eyes of the children they help serve.

During the visit, stakeholders toured the picturesque campgrounds in Tunkhannock, met campers and counselors, explored the facilities, and learned how United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s (UNC) Project Hope provides meaningful summer opportunities for nearly 200 children from the Scranton community. Seeing campers build friendships, discover new interests, and enjoy the outdoors reinforced the lasting impact their generosity has on local youth and families.

Running July 6 through July 31, Project Hope at Camp UNC offers a traditional summer day camp experience for children living in Scranton. Campers receive daily transportation to and from Camp UNC in the scenic countryside of Wyoming County, where they participate in arts and crafts, sports, swimming, nature exploration, team-building activities, and a variety of educational and recreational experiences. The program also emphasizes social-emotional learning, helping campers build confidence, resilience, communication skills, and healthy relationships. Breakfast, lunch, and a nutritious afternoon snack are provided each day before campers return home.
