UNC’s youth artists partner with Pop Up Studio

Thanks in part to recent funding from Lackawanna County’s Arts Engage program, UNC was able to collaborate with local artists known as the Pop Up Studio. The Pop Up Studio creates interactive art installations on a monthly basis for community members and three of its founders are members of UNC’s Young Professional Auxiliary Board. The Pop Up Studio began working with teens in the Illumination Youth Arts program in September and put on a First Friday event on December 7 at the Connell Building titled the “X-mas Games”. Community members were invited to decorate cookies, make ornaments, construct party hats, and compete to win a cup of hot chocolate. The teens will continue to work with the Pop Up Studio in the spring months that will culminate in another First Friday event.
