UNC Leads South Scranton Participation in “Show the Love” Campaign

United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s (UNC) Elm Street Project is leading a “Show the Love” campaign for the South Side of Scranton.

The campaign was designed by the Pennsylvania Downtown Center to build community pride during the month of February.  Residents and businesses in South Side are filling out heart-shaped “valentines” saying what they love most about their neighborhood.  The valentines are being posted in the window of 509 Cedar Avenue in Scranton, which hosts UNC’s South Side Winter Farmers Market on Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

“The valentines so far speak to the rich diversity of the neighborhood,” said Gus Fahey, director of community education and revitalization for UNC.  “People bring their unique energy, talents, and backgrounds to South Side and make it a vibrant, interesting place to live.”

If you would like to fill out a valentine, stop by the South Side Winter Farmers Market any Saturday during the month of February!
