Dunmore Cemetery Tour

The next two Sundays, the Dearly Departed Players will be hosting their popular tour of the Dunmore Cemetery.  Admission is free, but in recognition of Scranton firefighter Jim George, who retired in 1908 and used his money to hold an annual dinner for the city’s downtrodden hobos and transients until his death in 1911, attendees are asked to donate a nonperishable food item for UNC’s Feed-a-Friend program.  Those who attend can expect to see not just the stories of real people acted out, but the stories of regular people — making the Dunmore Cemetery Tour unique as it tells the stories of those who built this valley.  The tour will begin at 2 p.m. this Sunday, and again at 2 p.m. Oct. 8. For more information, contact Julie Esty at 570-344-3819.  Enjoy the tour and thank you for donating towards filling UNC’s food pantry.
