UNC Participates in Annual Point-in-Time Homeless Count

United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania (UNC) is one of several Scranton/Lackawanna County Continuum of Care member agencies who are committed to working together to improve services for the homeless in our region. During the last week of January, our local Continuum of Care agencies participated in the national Point-in-Time Count, a count of sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness on a single night in January. On the morning of January 30, individuals were asked where they slept the night before. The information collected is combined with national data to guide federal policy and inform efforts to help end homelessness. The results of this year’s count are not yet available, but numbers from previous years have shown a decrease of people living without shelter in the Scranton area over the past two decades.
