UNC LIT Receives $75,000 Grant from the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund

United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania (UNC) is excited to announce that it has received a generous $75,000 grant from the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund to support our transformative Leaders in Training (LIT) Program.

UNC’s LIT Program is a distinctive leadership education and empowerment initiative designed to help disadvantaged youth ages 13 through 18 build the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to succeed in life. Through mentorship, education, and a strong support network, participants grow into productive citizens, critical thinkers, and community leaders. The program’s impact speaks for itself, with 100% of LIT seniors graduating from high school in 2025.

In addition to its core curriculum, the LIT Program now offers post-graduate support, providing continued mentorship, case management, and scholarships for work- and school-related needs—ensuring that young people remain supported as they take their next steps into adulthood.

This generous contribution from the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund will help ensure the continued success of a program that has already positively shaped the lives of hundreds of young people in our community. UNC is deeply grateful for this partnership and for the Fund’s commitment to building brighter futures for local youth.
