UNC Receives Donation from SCI Waymart

United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania (UNC) is grateful to receive a generous $1,000 donation from the W.I.N.G.S. (Waymart Inmates Nurturing Growth & Stability) program at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) in Waymart.

Established in 2016, W.I.N.G.S. is a nonprofit initiative that empowers incarcerated individuals to give back to the community through organized fundraising sales, sponsored events, and other charitable activities. The program supports nonprofit organizations throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania while promoting personal growth, responsibility, stability, and positive citizenship among its participants.

Representatives from UNC recently met with Justin Turano, Corrections Activities Specialist at SCI Waymart, to learn more about the mission and impact of the W.I.N.G.S. program and the meaningful work it does to strengthen connections between SCI Waymart and the surrounding community.

“We are incredibly thankful for this generous gift and for the opportunity to learn more about the W.I.N.G.S. program,” said Chrissy Manuel, UNC Director of Development & Communications. “Partnerships like these help us continue providing essential programs and services that strengthen families and neighborhoods throughout our region.”

The donation will help support UNC’s wide range of community programs, including housing assistance, early childhood education, youth development, workforce initiatives, food access, and senior services.
