Housing Counselor

United Neighborhood Centers of NEPA (UNC) is one of the largest, and longest operating, nonprofit organizations in the region. The agency’s purpose is to meet the needs of local low-income families, seniors, youth, and new immigrants, while also empowering them to attain self-sufficiency. UNC’s wide array of programs are continuously adjusted to fill the gaps that exist in local services.

The ideal candidate is someone who is a team player, flexible, and detail-oriented with demonstrated experience balancing competing priorities and assisting those with housing needs such as evictions, homelessness and budgeting skills.

Full Time – 40 hours per week.

REQUIRED:   Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Social Services, Human Services, Psychology, Education or similar degree

Responsibilities:

  • Provide housing counseling those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
  • Implement rental assistance programs.
  • Collect income verification, credit reports and other information as needed.
  • Conduct housing and general intake processes, assessing the needs of individuals and families who walk in for our services.
  • Follow up with case management for clients
  • Attend court for clients who are facing eviction
  • Provide resources
  • Monitor housing intake line and return calls
  • Facilitate budgeting and homebuyer education classes.
