Housing Counselor – Housing Programs

Preferred:   Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field

The ideal candidate is someone who is a team player, flexible, and detail-oriented with demonstrated experience balancing competing priorities and assisting those with housing needs such as evictions, homelessness and budgeting skills.

Responsibilities:

Provide housing counseling for participants in housing counseling program as follows:

  • Work with individuals who are homeless, facing eviction, budgeting and skills in order to maintain permanent, stable housing.
  • Meet regularly with housing program participants to help them develop budgets and money management that work toward self-sufficiency, connecting them with needed supports and resources in the community to help them successfully complete the program.
  • Work with landlords in finding appropriate, affordable housing.
  • Maintain accurate client files, financial documentation, and record keeping, including entering comprehensive client information into the Client Track database along with the RX office data base through PHFA.
  • Conduct intakes for the housing counseling program and teach Budget Workshop, CHCI (Comprehensive Housing Counseling Initiative) classes and First Time Home Buyer Classes.
