Our UNC Locations: Scranton, Tunkhannock, Jessup, Carbondale, West Pittston.  This position is located in Scranton, PA.

Hours: Full time position working 40 hours per week Monday through Friday; two 12:00-8:00pm days and three 9:00-5:00pm days (the office closes at 5:00pm on Friday).

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Community Education, the Program Support Specialist plays a vital role in the Community Education department by serving as the first point of contact for those seeking adult education and job readiness services, many of whom English is a second language.

The responsibilities include conducting intake and assessment, entering and analyzing data, and providing support services to individuals seeking education and career opportunities. The Program Support Specialist will coordinate programming such as family literacy, citizenship education and language exchange classes to be implemented by volunteers, facilitating classes as necessary. They will collaborate with a team of coaches, case managers, and adult educators to assist consumers in overcoming challenges and attaining their program goals.

The Program Support Specialist will work a total of 40 hours per week Monday through Friday; two 12:00-8:00pm days and three 9:00-5:00pm days (the office closes at 5:00pm on Friday).

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts intakes with department consumers to determine appropriate programming.
  • Enters consumer information and program data into relevant databases.
  • Updates and maintains consumer records to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Generates reports and summaries as needed to support program evaluation and decision-making processes.
  • Monitor program outcomes and participant success utilizing a data management system.
  • Coordinates and enhances special programming such as citizenship education and language exchange programs.
  • Collaborates with the Community Education team to ensure consumer needs are addressed and overcome through case management and referral services.
  • Provides consistent, regular contact, and engagement to support and monitor consumer participation across programs.
  • Supports educational team by periodically facilitating classes.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to handle multiple projects or assignments concurrently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to meet the needs of the program participants.
  • Knowledge of various social services, educational and community resources.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office and other common applications.

Education/Experience/Licensure

  • Bachelors degree in human services, education, or related field is required.
  • Bilingual is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 is preferred.
